Pave setting is a very unique form of securing a gemstone. There are a few types of pave setting, mainly pre-set, micro or hand setting. The hardest of these is the hand-setting which can be done on almost any metal surface. This hand setting takes years to learn and even longer to perfect, but once mastered it is one of the most impressive settings out there. Best used on icing out almost anything that has not been originally designated for diamond setting such as sides of diamond watches, bands, rings and almost anything with a thick metal surface. For custom work Pave is the setting of choice.

Stainless steel should not be underestimated in jewelry manufacturing. Although it is not considered a precious metal it’s sturdy and will not tarnish like some semi-precious metals such as silver. One thing that should be noted about stainless steel is that it cannot be cast. In order for it to be made into jewelry, such as a ring or watch, it has to be cut into that specific shape; making this a very complicated process that takes expensive machinery. What this means is that if you want to make a piece of jewelry in stainless steel, you have to be ready to make it in huge quantities in order for the production to be worth while. The most important document, the warranty, provides the purchaser with the serial number, style of dial, materials information, the original certified dealer, name of purchaser and date of purchase. The warranty is the most important document because it authenticates the watch. Not all Rolex watches come with all three sets of papers. There can be instances when they have no documents at all, two of the three or one of three. Watches missing there warranty are less of value and are priced respectively.

Customized diamond work, such as putting diamonds on the bezel or band of the watch, are an amazing way to dress-up and customize an already beautiful Rolex watch. However one should consider the other effects this may have on the time piece. For instance the official Rolex warranty is voided after diamonds are added to the band or the case of the watch. However if diamonds are added via removable bezel the warranty is still in effect. This is due to the fact that you can remove the aftermarket bezel and put in the factory bezel in its place.
If you choose to purchase a Rolex that has a voided warranty due to modification or an expired warranty, you don't have much to fear.
