The hardest of these is the hand-setting which can be done on almost any metal surface. This hand setting takes years to learn and even longer to perfect, but once mastered it is one of the most impressive settings out there. Best used on icing out almost anything that has not been originally designated for diamond setting such as sides of diamond watches, bands, rings and almost anything with a thick metal surface. For custom work Pave is the setting of choice.

An advantage of 18k is that it catches rhodium better then lower grades of gold. This gives 18K gold a much nicer white luster at first; but unfortunately when rhodium wears off 18K white gold is left looking yellowish and dull. However with yellow gold, 18k will retain the most high quality gold luster possible to practically use with diamond jewelry forever. 18k is heavy, precious, soft and should mostly be used in jewelry generally under 20 grams.

The most important document, the warranty, provides the purchaser with the serial number, style of dial, materials information, the original certified dealer, name of purchaser and date of purchase. The warranty is the most important document because it authenticates the watch. Not all Rolex watches come with all three sets of papers. There can be instances when they have no documents at all, two of the three or one of three. Watches missing there warranty are less of value and are priced respectively.
You can purchase a Rolex one of three ways; New, Pre-owned and Customized. Officially, the only time one can purchase a "new" Rolex is by purchasing the watch from a certified Rolex dealer. At the point of purchase the warranty information is filled out with the purchaser’s information and dat. Now that the watch has transferred ownership from the authorized dealer to the customer, it is officially considered pre-owned. However, realistically because the watch has never been worn, the condition is still new.
All in all if a Rolex watch is described as new on our site it must have all three of its paper work components, it must be recently acquired from the authorized dealer, it must never have been worn and has to have no diamond customization.
