It's a great settings that can be used in the design of many wonderful pieces of jewelry. However the place where channel setting really works best is in the bezels of watches. Nothing is nicer then a well calculated watch bezel where every stones sits shoulder to should all around the dial. Channel is also a fairly sturdy setting that leave little concern of diamonds falling out.

An advantage of 18k is that it catches rhodium better then lower grades of gold.
